The Humanitarian Aid Coordination Office of the Darfur Regional Government announced on Friday the reactivation and operational launch of the Tine border crossing with Chad, aiming to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to various localities and areas in North Darfur.
The opening of the crossing coincided with the reopening of the humanitarian affairs office in the Tine locality of North Darfur State, where the crossing serves as a key land route for transporting aid from Chadian territory into Darfur, a region where vast areas rely on humanitarian assistance to meet food, healthcare, and shelter needs.
A statement noted that using this crossing would reduce aid transport costs and delivery times; the journey from Farchana in Chad to Tawila locality via Tine takes one day or less, compared to approximately four days via the Adré crossing.
It was further reported that 60 aid-laden trucks passed through the Tine crossing this week en route to North Darfur, while another 35 trucks passed through the city of Debba, heading toward the eastern, southern, and central parts of the region.
Additionally, 25 World Food Programme trucks entered the northern localities via the crossing on August 10, and the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) dispatched shelter materials through Tine on September 5, all of which were delivered safely.

Doctors and health workers warned on Thursday of the risk of a dengue fever outbreak in displacement camps in the town of Tawila, North Darfur State, following the recording of cases alongside a rise in malaria infections.
A medical source attributed the risk of the disease spreading in the camps to poor environmental sanitation and overcrowding, urging health authorities to monitor emerging cases and raise awareness among displaced persons regarding the disease's symptoms, risks, and the necessity of seeking hospital care if fever develops.
The source also warned of a potential increase in infections, given the displaced population's limited knowledge of the disease and prevention methods.
Meanwhile a health official in Tawila confirmed the registration of dengue fever cases within the displacement camps, noting that the health office has implemented a series of preventive measures to combat the disease and curb its spread among the displaced communities.
