The World Food Programme (WFP) has condemned the recent looting of its offices and storage facilities, as well as those of other humanitarian organisations, during armed clashes in Kauda, South Kordofan State.
In a statement, the WFP noted that this latest incident is part of a broader pattern of insecurity that has been affecting the region for several months.
The agency reported that, so far this year, it has faced more than 20 incidents involving attacks, looting, or the theft of food supplies, noting that such incidents directly undermine efforts to deliver life-saving food assistance to vulnerable communities.

Health centres in the Kalma camp for displaced persons - located east of Nyala in South Darfur - have recorded 449 cases of malnutrition among children and 279 cases among pregnant women over the past two months; meanwhile, 29 children died during August, according to the camp administration.
Abdallah Ishaq, the head of Kalma camp, stated that 149 of the affected children are suffering from severe malnutrition and are receiving treatment at three health centres within the camp. He noted that the majority of recent child deaths are linked to malnutrition.
These developments follow a change in the WFP’s aid delivery method for displaced persons in the camp, shifting from food rations to cash assistance amounting to 17,000 Sudanese pounds per person per month.
According to the camp administration, Kalma currently houses approximately 300,000 displaced persons, amidst declining aid and mounting food and healthcare needs.
